LG Super Multi Blue HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Disc Player SMB-007 Review
Finally, a company has got it right to fight the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray debate by asking: why not have a combo player? LG has brilliantly come out with the LG Super Multi Blue HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Disc Player, the LG SMB-007. The model number is even cool - SMB-007. By conincidence, I think not. This is the first generation player that might have some quirks.
Some of the major features of the LG SMB007 are:
- CD, CD-RW
- DVD, DVD+/-R/RW
- Blu-Ray, HD-DVD
- HDCP over HDMI
- 480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080p
- DD+ DolbyTrueHD, DTS HD, DD5.1, DTS5.1
Conclusion
If you have the funds, and are willing to hack out the first generation quirks of a combo player, LG has a unit for you. In my opinion, it is best to wait or to buy the units seperated since they are probably cheaper buying the units seperatly. There are other options such as buying playstation 3 and a hddvd player or even buying Microsoft XBOX with the HDDVD player and a Sony Blu-Ray player.
